The Cordless Impact Wrench or the impact wrench for that matter has traditionally been thought of as a solely industrial type of tool. These tools were left for the mainly for the jobs that required tremendous torque and power or at least that was the thought. RPMs are revolutions per minute and FT – LBS are foot pounds. So what should you be looking for in these two areas? Well there is a wide range of RPMs you will see on various cordless impact drivers I have seen a anywhere from 1100 up to 4200. I would recommend staying in the 1500 to 2500 range. FT – LBS the ranges I have seen run from 200 up to 500. The optimum range I would suggest is from 350 to around 475.

There is a really reason why we are talking about cordless wrenches here. That reason is portability. You want to be able to take the power of these drivers and use it in almost any locations and not be restricted to how long the hose is that is connected to the compressor. This is the main reason for the birth of the entire cordless industry mobility and portability.
Working hand and hand with portability is comfort. Yes comfort I am not talking about sleeping the chair comfort rather usability comfort. What I am referring to is ergonomically comfortable. You don’t want a impact wrench that is going to be way to heavy sort of defeats the point of how mobile it is suppose to be. Once more there is a wide range of weights you will come across when looking at these tools from 5 pounds all the way up and over 12 pounds. What you have to figure out is how much power do you need versus how much comfort are you willing to give up.
Batteries of the Cordless Impact Wrench
Right behind the previous section is the batteries of the various cordless impact wrenches. What type of battery is going to work best for you? Here again is the balancing act we all have to do when trying to decide what type of tool we want. For everything you want there are sacrifices. Do you want to give up power for comfort? Do you want to lose some portability for less battery life? I have not come across to many different type of batteries with these wrenches they seem to be 12 volt, 18 volt and a few 19 volts. On this I do not have a clear favorite regarding the cordless impact wrench as it really comes down to what you want need, and can afford.
